OPEN CALL EXTENDED – SUBMISSIONS UNTIL 13.02! „SMALL SHOT – BIG STORY”
We’re looking for photo stories for the opening of our new exhibition format!
This exhibition project aims to tell meaningful, touching, and evocative documentary photo stories through a small format. Participating stories can be presented as a single image or as a series.
The small format is casual and familiar, thanks to mobile phone cameras and social media platforms. This format “limitation” also offers the possibility to touch upon complex, sensitive, or inaccessible subjects or topics which, due to various constraints, can usually only be captured with small equipment (mobile camera, etc.). Works submitted to the open call can be captured with any camera.
As curators, we are interested in analyzing the audience’s experience of the exhibition in a situation where the small format invites the viewer to get physically close to the image. Does this make the photographs seem more intimate and the subjects or topics feel closer and more relatable?
Please note that the maximum formal size of the photographs in the exhibition is 15 cm (wider side) + frames. Shots may form a series or be part of a series, as well as stand-alone works.
Photographers from Estonia and abroad are welcome to participate.
