Movie Night #3. Documentary “The Mexican Suitcase”

02.12.2021 at 19:00

Together with our good neighbour Palo Alto Club we’re reviving the film evenings of the Juhan Kuus Documentary Photo Centre!

As part of the exhibition “Mirroring Humans – Robert Capa and the Hungarian Masters: Brassaï, Kertész, Moholy-Nagy, Munkácsi”, we are screening for the first time in Estonia the award-winning documentary “The Mexican Suitcase” by Trisha Ziff.

THE MEXICAN SUITCASE tells the story of three lost boxes that were recovered by the film’s director, Trisha Ziff, from a closet in Mexico City in 2007. The boxes, misplaced in the chaos at the start of WWII, contained many of the Spanish Civil War negatives by Robert Capa, Gerda Taro and David Seymour. These boxes have become known as the Mexican Suitcase.

Movie is in English and Spanish with English subtitles.

Admission is FREE! At the screening it’s possible to buy a discounted ticket for the exhibition (3 EUR), which you can use until the end of the exhibition on January 23rd.

Upon entry, we’ll check the COVID certificates and the identity document. Wearing a mask is mandatory!

Audience engagement program is supported by US Embassy in Tallinn.
